Sports
Cooperation and team play are closely connected. Each team member has it’s individual talents and is playing his own role, but together we achieve one common goal. To me, that is what sports and business stands for.

Sports and business are compared with each other on a regular basis. And that is not without a reason; professional sports and business have a lot in common. During my own active career as professional football player, and during my business activities, I have experienced that commonality many times.

Both in times of success as in times of endurance, it has always been the same aspects that determined the result in the end; focus, capacity, discipline and timing is what makes the difference in the end, both in professional sports as in business.

Achieving major successes is only possible with a clear focus towards a common goal, when team members possess individual skills, when there is discipline to practice severely, and the individual is prepared to operate on behalf of the team and when the team knows how to peak at exactly the right moment.

Business
And that is how it works in business too. In the first place, results are made by meeting the right people, analysing each others capacities and needs in order to deicide the common goals and agree upon the winning strategy. These conditions are decisive to be successful to a large proportion.

Sjaak Troost & Partners always plays to win, and is eager on working together with other winners. It is my mission to set the proper conditions that enable my partners to strike goals. I believe in teamwork and work, together with my partners, according to the right strategy and know how to create the right conditions to maximize the best result. This is not restricted to advice only; in order to be able to guarantee structural turn over I put in the actual labour myself too. That is the only way a team develops a major chance to be successful.

History
My dream
Sports and business have always been keeping me busy. Literally,and as a matter of speaking. I started playing the red and white Feyenoord jersey at the age of 10. My dream was to once play the first team of Feyenoord. That this would not be easy became clear to me from my early years on. I knew I had to work really hard to achieve my goals. And I did. I have always done my 100% best, both on and off the pitch. It has provided me a lot of experience that is still helping me nowadays.

Reality
With a clear eye on the target I started at he age of 16 as a document gopher, working for Frans Maas Company in the Rotterdam harbour. It was a time of hard work both off and on the pitch. Also it was a time where nothing was for certain. The reward to all the hard labour came at the age of 17 when I was given the opportunity to make my debut at the first team of Feyenoord. My boyhood dream had become reality and I having been playing the Feyenoord team as a full professional until I reached the age of 31.

Undertaking
At the age of 26 I started undertaking and started up a publishing company. It was here that my interest for both sports as business grew. In order to offer undertakers in the Rotterdam area a connecting business platform, I launched the magazine “Friends in Business”. I have been doing this for many years and it provided me a great amount of connections.

When the Feyenoord staff asked me to join their management team by becoming their commercial manager, I decided to accept their offer, though only after a serious amount of thought. At that time my thoughts were “ if I can no longer help the club on the pitch, I might as well do so in a different way” . I therefore sold my “Friends in Business” shares. The magazine still exist today and is still highly successful.

Feyenoord en business
After 328 official league games and 33 Europa Cup matches with Feyenoord and 4 matches with the Dutch national team, I decided to put an end to my professional football career at the age of 31.

I quickly adapted to the role of commercial manager, commercial director and, finally, club advisor, due to the fact that I had always been busy developing new activities and had learned to use opportunities, combined with my career as a football player.I have been working for Feyenoord for more than 15 years and have done so with incredible joy and dedication.

Sjaak Troost & Partners writes Partners with a capital P for a reason. I do not speak of sponsors or clients; I use the word Partner by careful consideration since we are closely cooperating together while increasing the business.

That is also the reason why I am set to work myself to really create successes. After we have analyzed the market and know when, and with which product, the market is to be approached, I will see to providing the right connections.
